Either by sheer coincidence or simple bad planning, Adobe -- about to kick off its annual Adobe Max developer conference -- has scheduled an announcement from the company on Tuesday, October 4th at 10 a.m. Pacific time, exactly the same date and time that Apple will be making its highly-anticipated iPhone (and perhaps more) announcements at the company's town hall stage in Cupertino. Adobe has said even less than Apple about the nature of its announcement....

The close of the stock market Thursday saw IBM overtake Microsoft to become the second most valuable technology company. IBM's climb to $214 billion in its stock market cap was just enough to counter a Microsoft decline to $213.2 billion, pushing Microsoft down to third. Apple was still the largest, even with recent sell-offs, and had a much larger $362.1 billion cap....
As expected, Verizon on Friday formally submitted a federal appeal against the FCC's net neutrality rules now that they should take effect. The telecom giant repeated the same general complaints it made when it made a premature appeal in January. It tried to portray the US agency as out of control, making "potentially sweeping and unneeded regulations" and fostering "uncertainty" in the industry....
AT&T is set to begin throttling the speed of the top five percent of heaviest data users beginning Saturday, October 1st. Even users with grandfathered "unlimted" data plans will experience reduced speeds once their usage puts them in the top five percent, but the throttling will end at the end of the billing cycle until the user once again uses too much data, said the company. A Reddit user showed 9to5Mac a text warning he got from his provider as proof....
